2008 Parent Youth Day will take place July 19th and 20th at Puma Hills Ranch.
CMCTU has expanded our Parent/Youth Day to two days, a full weekend, because demand from families last year was more than we could accommodate in just one day. |

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) aids the physical and emotional recovery of wounded military personnel through fly tying and fly fishing.PHWFF was established at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2005 to help the wounded develop their fine motor skills while regaining emotional strength. It began as a joint activity of the National Capital Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) and the Mid-Atlantic Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF). All services and activities of PHWFF, including fly fishing and tying materials and equipment, are provided to the participants at no cost. Specialized equipment is provided as needed. There is no “membership” in PHWFF. Activities are staffed by volunteers from TU and FFF. Locally, CMCTU and the Pikes Peak Flyfishers (the local chapter of the FFF) have started a program with Ft. Carson’s Warrior Transition Unit (WTU). The WTU, which works with wounded soldiers, is expecting to grow to 600 soldiers. Sgt. Dennis Cline of the WTU and one of the wounded soldiers who participated in PHWFF at Walter Reed is the advisor to the chapter. Ghillies Fly Shop and CMCTU have teamed on a special offer. TFO is a corporate sponsor of PHWFF and makes special 9’, 5-weight and 9’, 8 weight PHWFF rods. If you purchase one of these rods at Ghillies and donate it to CMCTU, we will donate the rod and an additional $40 to PHWFF and you will receive a donation letter for tax purposes. In addition, for each PHWFF rod purchased from a TFO dealer, TFO will donate $25 to PHWFF. Jim Teeny, Inc offers special PHWFF 5 and 8 weight floating lines (with an accompanying 20 and 30 lb backing) and a special monogrammed “camo” rod case. A portion of the sale of Teeny PHWFF products will be donated to PHWFF by Jim Teeny, Inc. Contact Jim Teeny directly to purchase. Our soldiers at Ft. Carson have made tremendous sacrifices over recent years. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to do something on a person-to-person basis to help them.
