CTU Youth Camp  E-mail
The Colorado Trout Unlimited River Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp is a week-long experience designed to educate and energize the next generation of cold-water conservationists.

The camp is located on Peace Ranch in the Roaring Fork River valley near Basalt, CO. Participants will learn from experts in various fields of environmental science. These volunteer faculty members come from government agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, the EPA, Colorado State University, and others.

The camp focuses on hands-on learning, with activity Type to enter text es such as snorkeling to observe fish behavior, water quality sampling and habitat restoration. Academic sessions include stream ecology, entomology, hydrology, the biology of pollution and human impacts on Rocky Mountain eco-systems.

Hands-on instruction will include fly tying, fly casting, streamside botany, angling ethics, angling literature, wading safety and the evolution of the angler.

Each of the 20 TU chapters in Colorado will sponsor one camper. The cost for the 6-day camp is $375, but CMCTU provides a full scholarship for our camper.

Applicants should be 14-18 years old and must submit a completed application form, including a brief essay on why they would like to take part in the camp.
